Allies in Development is a non-governmental organization in Sierra Leone that works to end violence against women and girls. Allies in Development was established in December 2020, in response to the rise in violence against women and girls which is exacerbated by global and national crises such as Covid-19 pandemic, climate change, cyber-violence, to name a few. The changing contexts in which violence occurs has outpaced the preventive and responsive structures available to women and girls affected by violence in Sierra Leone.

Our advocacy challenges the economic, socio-cultural and political structures that cause and re-enforce violence women and girls. Through lobbying, campaigns and community outreaches, we create a platform for survivors and their families to bring their experiences and needs into focus. We target policy makers, community leaders and our constituents with our messages.

We strengthen our advocacy through evidence-based research. We research new pathways to address violence against women. For example, our current research areas involve extending social protection to caregivers and survivor.
We work with schools, teachers, pupils, parents, communities and NGO partners in violence prevention and response.
